As I started becoming more familiar with the idea of active sitting and trying to make it part of my daily routine, I noticed that my current standing desk wasn’t really doing the job.

There were things I liked about it, but also a few little details that bothered me. The wobble at full height, the messy cable management, and the lack of flexibility with the controller placement slowly started to add up.

It felt like I was compromising more than I should, especially since a standing desk is supposed to make your workday easier, not more frustrating.

That’s when I decided to look for an upgrade, something that could match my needs and keep up with the way I wanted to work throughout the day.

Without further ado, here’s my Vernal Standing Desk review, a desk that not only solved the problems I had with my old standing desk but also feels like it’s going to be my reliable companion for many years to come.

Delivery and Unboxing

The desk arrived in two parcels, one for the frame and one for the desktop. The frame box was delivered first, and it was in excellent condition with no signs of rough handling.

The top arrived separately, and while the outer box had a small dent, the inner protective layer was more than enough to keep it safe. There were no marks, scratches, or damage to the actual surface.

Inside, everything was well protected. I was impressed by how much foam was used to keep the parts secure during transit.

Vernal 2

The foam was thick and effective, ensuring nothing shifted around. If I had to point out one area for improvement, it would be the packaging sustainability.

Cardboard holders or recyclable inserts would have been a more Eco-friendly touch. I understand the top requires extra care, so the foam makes sense, but it still feels like an aspect that could be improved.

The only slightly unusual part of the process was that the two parcels arrived via different couriers. The legs came with Evri, and the desktop followed later with DPD.

In my case, this worked out fine, but I can imagine some customers may find it inconvenient if the deliveries are too far apart.

Ease of Installation

Putting the Vernal Standing Desk together was more straightforward than I expected. All the parts were clearly labelled, and the instructions were simple and easy to follow without feeling overwhelming.

Vernal 6

Based on the assembly guides I’ve seen before for office chairs and my previous standing desk, this one is probably the best I’ve come across so far. And if you still struggle, Vernal also provides video tutorials, which definitely adds to the ease of the process.

I started by laying everything out first, just like the guide suggested on the opening page. That step really helped, and within about 30–40 minutes the desk was fully assembled.

Vernal 7

The pre-drilled holes lined up perfectly, which is not always the case with flat-pack furniture. The screws and bolts felt sturdy, and while the included tools were decent, I used my own screwdriver to make things quicker.

I also liked that they added multiple bags of screws in case you buy the legs or top separately, that’s a thoughtful detail and a big plus.

The top itself was heavier than I expected, even for the 180 x 80 size, which made it a bit harder to handle on my own.

I would definitely recommend having a second person to help, especially when flipping it upright after attaching the legs. You wouldn’t want to damage such a beauty right out of the box.

Additionally, I liked the extra perks you can order with the desk. Unfortunately, they do cost extra, but the flexibility is great.

Knowing that in the future I can add a CPU holder or a keyboard drawer and simply screw it in place makes the whole setup even better. It gives the desk more room to grow with my needs, instead of locking me into a single configuration.

Overall, the installation experience was smooth. It wasn’t frustrating or overly complicated, which I consider a big win, especially for a desk of this size.

Design and Build Quality

The Vernal Standing Desk immediately stands out with its clean, modern look. And quite frankly, I don’t even know where to start, as it’s the first time in a long time that I was genuinely impressed.

Something that immediately stood out to me, and probably where this standing desk won me over completely, is that each leg has its own lifting motor.

Unlike some desks that use a single motor bar under the tabletop with cables running everywhere, the Vernal desk keeps things neat and organised.

All four cables, two for the legs, one for the power supply, and one for the remote, connect through a small controller box under the desk, which is neatly covered once everything is assembled.

This not only makes the setup look clean but also reduces the risk of tangled wires or accidental snags, which is a big plus for both aesthetics and safety. From my experience, this was one of the main reasons I hardly used my old standing desk.

On top of that, you also have the option to install the controller on whichever side you prefer, left or right. This might seem like a small detail, but it makes the desk feel more versatile and user-friendly, especially if you have a specific setup or limited space on one side.

The frame itself feels solid and reassuringly sturdy. Even when fully extended to standing height, there’s minimal wobble, which is a big improvement over some desks I’ve tried in the past or my previous desk.

The legs have a matte finish that hides fingerprints well, and the crossbars add extra stability without being intrusive or clunky.

Overall, I am really pleased with the design and build quality. It looks professional, feels premium, and gives the impression of a desk that is built to last.

Performance and Noise Level

When it comes to performance, the Vernal Standing Desk delivers exactly what you’d expect from a premium product.

The dual-motor system raises and lowers the desk smoothly and evenly, with no sudden jerks or hesitations.

The transitions between sitting and standing heights feel steady, which gives you confidence that your equipment is safe, even if you’re running multiple monitors or heavier setups.

What impressed me most is how quiet the motors are. Even when adjusting the height, the sound is more of a gentle hum than a distracting noise.

I can easily raise or lower the desk during a call without worrying that the noise would be picked up by the microphone.

Compared to my previous standing desk, which had a loud, grinding motor, this one feels miles ahead in terms of refinement.

The desk also remembers your preferred positions thanks to the programmable controller. You can set up a few presets, and with a single button press, it glides into the exact height you want.

Daily Use

I found myself using it a lot during the day, much more than I expected at first. The smooth height adjustment and the memory presets make it really easy to switch between sitting and standing, so I actually ended up changing positions several times without even thinking about it.

I particularly like to pair it with the standing stool from Leitz Ergo Active and the Topo Not-Flat Standing Desk Mat from Ergorive.

This ergonomic setup suit my needs, and it works incredibly well, as all three products do exactly what they are supposed to do.

As for normal sitting when I’m not testing, I use my daily driver, the Steelcase Amia, but for now, the clear winner is definitely the standing desk and its stability.

On top of that, cable management plays a big role for me. As I mentioned before, I was often annoyed by my old standing desk, whereas with this one, everything connects neatly through the control box and tucks away cleanly, so I don’t have to worry about snagging wires or a messy look under the desk. It keeps the workspace feeling organized and professional.

Performance Over Time (300h)

After around 300 hours of use, the Vernal Standing Desk has continued to impress with its consistent performance. The motors remain smooth and quiet, showing no signs of slowing down or struggling under a typical load.

Even with frequent adjustments between sitting and standing positions throughout the day, the desk maintains its stability, with minimal wobble at full height.

The memory presets continue to function flawlessly, making it quick and easy to return to preferred heights without any recalibration.

Additionally, the tabletop and frame show no noticeable wear or scratches from daily use, and the cable management system remains tidy and intact, preventing any accidental snags or tangles.

Overall, after extensive use, the desk has proven to be reliable, durable, and well-built—maintaining the same high-quality experience as when it was first assembled.

Price and Value

The Vernal Standing Desk sits at a mid-to-high price point, but in my opinion, it offers excellent value for what you get.

The combination of a premium tabletop, solid frame, dual lifting motors, and thoughtful design features like adjustable controller placement and organized cable management make it a worthwhile investment.

While the optional accessories such as CPU holders or keyboard drawers come at an additional cost, the flexibility to upgrade your setup over time adds to the desk’s overall value.

Considering its durability, smooth performance, and professional aesthetics, the desk feels like a long-term investment that justifies the price.

For anyone looking for a reliable, high-quality standing desk that will remain functional and stylish for years, the Vernal Standing Desk delivers more than what you pay for.
