Putting the Tonfary Ergonomic Office Chair together was a pretty straightforward process. It took me around 15 minutes, but I used a hand drill, which at this point is simply more convenient after assembling over 100 chairs in the last few years.

I do not want to sound like I am overpraising this chair, but it delivers more than I expected in terms of mesh quality for the price.
Whether sitting with bare skin or just a T-shirt, the mesh feels comfortable, both on the seat and on the backrest.
Moving to the seat, it comes with padding at the front edge, which helps relieve pressure on the thighs. The cushion itself feels supportive without being overly stiff, striking a nice balance between comfort and firmness.
For short sessions, it feels pleasant right away, and even during longer periods it holds up better than many budget chairs I have tested.
The backrest is split into two sections: the upper backrest and the lower portion shaped for lumbar support.
The downside here is that there is no separate, adjustable lumbar support. Instead, the lower back is contoured in a way that provides natural support.
Personally, I find it quite good, though comfort is always subjective. For example, my partner is 165 cm tall and I am 193 cm, and both of us found it acceptable.
The armrests are another highlight. Compared to chairs like the Sihoo M18, Ticova, Duramont, Derffy, and others in this price range, these feel soft, wide, and comfortable.
They do not lock your arms into a fixed position, and they offer a decent level of 3D adjustability for this budget category, which is definitely a plus.
Another pleasant surprise is the depth slide adjustment. Honestly, I did not expect to see this feature here. It is similar to what I tested on the Holludle Ergonomic Office Chair.
While it is not the best implementation on the market, it is a nice touch and adds flexibility for different body types.
And last but not least, the headrest. This is probably the weakest point for me. Comfort-wise it is okay, but the adjustment range is far too small for someone of my height.
The first time I tried to adjust it, I accidentally pulled it out completely and almost lost the wide clip that holds it in place. The installation process felt a bit clunky, and for me, being tall, it ended up being useless, so I removed it.
For future versions, a true 3D adjustable headrest with more range would be a huge improvement and could make this chair a serious contender for the title of best budget office chair.

After a few weeks of daily use, the Tonfary Ergonomic Office Chair has held up well. The mesh kept its shape without sagging, staying supportive and breathable.
The seat cushion also maintained its firmness, unlike many budget chairs where you feel the base after a short time.
The mechanism works smoothly with no squeaks or wobbling, and the armrests remain stable. The only weak point is still the headrest, which I removed early on due to its limited range.
Overall, the chair performs better than most budget options I have tested and feels reliable for long-term use.

In the UK it often comes in at under 200 pounds, which places it firmly in the budget to midrange category.
For that price, you get a chair with good mesh, decent padding, solid build quality, 3D adjustable armrests, and even a seat depth adjustment.
Many competitors in this range skip at least one of these features, so overall the Tonfary delivers strong value.
At the higher end of its price point it is still a fair deal, but when found closer to the lower end it becomes a very attractive option and one of the better choices for this budget segment.
Is It Worth It?
In all fairness, yes. After testing so many chairs over the years, I can confidently say the Tonfary Ergonomic Office Chair is one of the better options in its category.
It surprised me in several areas, especially the mesh quality, which feels far better than what you normally get at this price.
If I had to choose between this and other common budget options like Sihoo, Ticova, or Derffy, I would go for the Tonfary without hesitation.
It simply feels more refined and thought out in terms of comfort and usability. Of course, it is not perfect.
The headrest is a weak point, and the excess packaging could be improved with a more eco-friendly approach. But those downsides do not outweigh the overall experience the chair delivers.
For anyone shopping under the 200 pound or 160 dollar mark, the Tonfary is absolutely worth considering. It offers a mix of comfort, build quality, and features that are hard to beat in the budget to midrange bracket.
