As for the last few months I have been focused on finding the best active stools of 2025 for our annual roundup.

That meant hours of sitting, standing, and rotating through designs that promise better posture, more comfort, and a healthier way to work. One of the stools that immediately caught my attention was the Leitz Ergo Active Standing Stool.

At first it comes across as sleek and minimal, almost like a modern piece of furniture rather than something you would expect to use in an office every day.

But looks are only the beginning, because the real test is how it feels through a full workday. Here is my Leitz Ergo Active Standing Stool review.

Delivery and Unboxing

Most delivery and unboxing experiences are fairly standard, but there’s always something worth mentioning.

The stool arrived in a compact, well-protected box that was light and easy to carry. Inside, everything was neatly secured with no scratches or marks.

What I really liked was Leitz’s approach to eco-friendly packaging. As I’ve mentioned in previous reviews, I often see excessive foam and plastic bags.

While they protect the product, they create unnecessary waste. Leitz clearly made an effort to reduce this, which I really like.

They used sheet paper to cover the components, two cardboard dividers to prevent damage, and a separate box for the gas lift and cover.

It’s a small detail, but it makes a noticeable difference. From this perspective, it’s a big plus from me.

Assembly Process

To be fair, there is not much to say about the assembly process. It was incredibly straightforward and took me no more than five minutes from start to finish, as you can see in the video.

I opened the box, unwrapped everything, laid out the components on the floor, connected the cover to the seat, attached the gas lift to the base, and voilà, the stool was ready.

The whole process was quick, simple, and hassle free.It was even easier than assembling the Qor360 stool. With the Qor360, I had to attach the wheels, but since the Leitz Ergo Active comes with a fixed base, the setup was much simpler.

Design and Build Quality

The Leitz Ergo Active Standing Stool has a modern and minimalist look that blends well into both home and office setups.

I bought the white version, and it looks clean and stylish in any space. The seat is covered with a durable fabric that feels soft to the touch while still being resistant to daily wear.

The stitching is neat, and the overall finish gives a sense of quality that matches its premium positioning.

The base is sturdy and features non-slip rubber to keep the stool from slipping and to protect the floor.

The gas lift mechanism feels sturdy and responsive, making it easy to adjust the height smoothly. I really like the cover for the gas lift, as it gives the stool a neat, finished look while also protecting the mechanism.

Ergonomics and Comfort

The Leitz Ergo Active Standing Stool is designed to promote active sitting, which helps reduce the strain that comes with staying in a fixed position for too long.

The rounded wobble base encourages rocking and swivel movements, allowing you to shift your weight naturally and keep your core engaged throughout the day.

The seat is firm but cushioned enough to remain comfortable during extended use. It does not feel overly soft, which is a positive aspect since a firmer seat provides better support for posture.

The rounded edges also prevent any discomfort on the thighs, even when sitting for longer periods.

Height adjustment is smooth and versatile, making it easy to switch between sitting, perching, and standing positions.

I did notice a slight struggle with the gas lift after a heavier user had been sitting on it for a longer period, however this did not affect normal day-to-day use.

I personally love that you can adjust the gas lift from three different angles just by pressing the button underneath the seat.

On top of that, there is a handle built into the underside of the seat, which makes it much easier to move around. Since the stool is lightweight, this handle really helps when switching between rooms or moving it around the office.

I did not personally notice anything worth complaining about, especially when considering the price.

Comfort is very good. Even though I tend to prefer a slightly firmer seat then this, the 9 cm thick cushion might feel a bit too soft for some. That being said, this is hardly something to criticize, as the overall comfort level is excellent.

Performance Over Time

After using the Leitz Ergo Active Standing Stool for over 300 hours, I can confidently say that its performance has remained consistent.

The seat cushion has kept its firmness and comfort without sagging, even with daily use. The fabric still feels soft and shows no signs of wear, which is impressive for a stool in this price range.

The rounded wobble base continues to provide subtle rocking and swivel movements, encouraging active sitting. Even after prolonged use, the stool stays stable and does not develop any unwanted wobbling.

The non-slip rubber base has also proven effective in protecting my floor and keeping the stool securely in place during use.

I did drop a bit of coffee on the seat at one point, and it took me a little effort to clean it fully. While the fabric is durable, spills like that are a minor inconvenience to watch out for.

Overall, even after 300 hours, the stool performs as well as it did on day one, and I remain very satisfied with its comfort, stability, and build quality. I will come back with another update after three months of use.

Value for Money

The Leitz Ergo Active Standing Stool offers excellent value for money. For its price, it delivers a combination of stability, comfort, and functionality that makes it suitable for both home offices and professional settings.

Even minor issues, like cleaning spills or the slightly thick seat cushion, are easy to overlook when you consider the overall quality and performance.

Overall, the stool feels like a solid investment for anyone looking to improve their posture and comfort without spending a fortune.

Is It Worth It?

Yes. It is definitely worth the investment. While you do not get the same mobility as the Qor360, the quality of the Leitz Ergo Active Standing Stool is far superior compared to other stools in this price range, such as the Sitall.

On top of that, it comes with a five-year warranty, which adds extra peace of mind and confidence in its durability.
