With Christmas and the colder months coming up, many of us end up spending less time outside and more time sitting at our desks.
That got me thinking it might be the right moment to try an active sitting option, something that brings a bit of movement into the workday while still keeping things comfortable.
After looking through my list of products I have tested in the past and doing some quick research online, I came across the Ergonomist Kneeling Chair and decided to give it a try.
So without further ado, let’s take a closer look at the ergonomist kneeling chair review to see if it is worth the investment and whether it really helps us stay more active.
What We Like
What We Don’t

Delivery and Unboxing
To my surprise, the Ergonomist Kneeling Chair arrived in a fairly small box, and everything looked intact with no signs of damage. Inside, the parts were neatly arranged and well protected, so nothing moved around during transit.

The package was lighter than I expected, which made it easy to carry inside and get started with the setup right away.

A quick note here: while I was glad to see there wasn’t an excess of plastic bags given the small number of parts, I think the packaging could still be improved.

For example, brands like Sitz use paper sheets or cardboard holders with their standing chairs, and something similar here would make the unboxing feel more eco-friendly.

Since more companies are moving toward sustainable packaging, this would be a nice upgrade for Ergonomist to consider.

Assembly Proccess
The assembly took me about 15 minutes and the process was straightforward with instructions that were easy enough to follow.
As you can see in the video above, everything went smoothly. The only thing to watch out for is making sure the seat is installed facing the right way.
If it is not, you will quickly notice there is not enough space for your legs, which happened to me and I had to take it apart and refit it.

Aside from that small detail, the setup was simple and the kneeling chair was ready to use in no time.
A big shoutout to Ergonomist here. If you are not a big fan of assembling furniture on your own, they give you the option to order the chair pre-assembled.
It comes at an extra cost but I think that is understandable and the price seems reasonable for the convenience.

Design and Build Quality
I will start with one thing I really like about this chair, which is the variety of colors available for both the seat and the legs.
There are around 11 options to choose from, and I believe if you email the company, they might even let you mix and match them.

I went with the teal color, and I have to say it looks fantastic. The finish gives the chair a nice premium feel, and it adds a touch of style that makes it stand out in the room.

In terms of build quality, the frame feels sturdy and well-balanced, even though it is lighter than a traditional office chair.
The wood has a smooth finish and doesn’t look or feel cheap, while the cushions are firm enough to support your weight without sinking in too quickly.
At the same time, they are comfortable enough for longer sitting sessions, at least compared to other kneeling chairs I have tried.

Ergonomist also reinforced the frame by adding six extra layers of wood along with two additional cross supports. This makes the chair feel more durable and gives me confidence it can handle daily use without wobbling or wearing out too quickly.

Comfort and Ergonomics
Right from the start, you can tell that the cushions on this chair are much thicker than what you usually find on other kneeling chairs.

They measure about 4.5 inches, while most of the industry standard is closer to 3 inches. That extra padding makes a noticeable difference, especially if you plan to sit for longer periods.

The seat and knee cushions feel supportive without being too hard, which helps reduce pressure on both your knees and your lower back. After testing the kneeling chair for over 300 hours, the seat cushion still feels just as comfortable as it did on day one.

Another thing I enjoy is the rocking motion, which adds a bit of natural movement that keeps you from feeling stiff even after sitting for three or four hours at a time.
The gentle forward and backward tilt encouraged me to adjust my posture and helped engage my core without me even noticing.

Compared to a static kneeling chair, this design feels more dynamic and much easier to adapt to during a full workday.
Of course, it is important to remember that a kneeling chair is not designed for an eight-hour shift. It works best as something to add to your setup, alternating between it and a regular office chair to keep your body moving and prevent fatigue.

However, I noticed from my gym bros that if you have thick or very muscular legs(above average) you might find it a little harder to position your shins comfortably because of the extra cushion thickness. It is not a dealbreaker, but it is something to keep in mind depending on your body type.
Overall, I am really satisfied with how the Ergonomist Kneeling Chair feels and the balance it provides between comfort, posture support, and movement.

Performance in Daily Use
As with any active sitting product, it took me a couple of hours to get used to the new posture, but once my body adjusted, I actually started to enjoy it.
The rocking motion is a big plus here, adding natural movement that keeps sitting from feeling too static.

In terms of build quality and stability, the chair feels solid and well-balanced. I never felt like I was tipping over, even when leaning forward to grab something off the desk.

The reinforced frame gives it a sturdy feel, and the rocking motion remains smooth without any creaking or wobbling.
Additionally, I did not notice any deformation or flattening in the padding, which was something I was concerned about at first.

So far, the cushions have held their shape very well even after long sessions. I will keep monitoring this and plan to share an update once I reach around 1,000 hours of use, since that will be a real test of how durable the padding is over the long run.

Price and Value
When it comes to price, the Ergonomist Kneeling Chair sits somewhere in the mid-range compared to other kneeling chairs on the market. It is not the cheapest option out there, but it is also far from the most expensive. For what you get in terms of design, comfort, and build quality, I feel the price is fair.
The thicker cushions, the reinforced frame, and the overall premium look make it feel like money well spent, especially if you plan to use it regularly as part of your work setup.
Of course, it may not be the best choice if you are only curious to “test” a kneeling chair for a few minutes here and there, but if you are serious about trying active sitting and want something that feels solid and comfortable, the value is definitely there.

Is it Worth It?
Yes, the Ergonomist Kneeling Chair is worth it. It delivers on comfort with its thicker cushions, feels solid thanks to the reinforced frame, and the rocking motion adds a nice touch that makes it easier to stay active while working.
It does take a little time to get used to, and I would not recommend it as your only chair for an entire 8–10 hour workday. However, as a second chair to alternate with your regular office chair, it works really well and I believe it is definitely a good investment.
However, If you are curious about kneeling chairs or simply want to improve your posture and reduce slouching without spending a fortune, this model is a great balance of price, comfort, and build quality.
