Editorial Policy

YourOfficeGear.com publishes product reviews, comparison roundups, buying guides, how-to guides, and research and statistics content to help readers make informed decisions about office and workspace equipment.

This editorial policy explains how we select topics, evaluate products, use data, cite research, manage conflicts of interest, disclose commercial relationships, and correct mistakes. It applies to every piece of content published on the site.

1) Editorial Mission And Reader First Standards

Our mission is to publish accurate, helpful, and experience-led content that improves the way people work.

We aim to make complex purchasing and setup decisions simple by combining hands-on evaluation, clear explanations, and evidence-based guidance.

We do not publish content purely for search visibility. A page must exist because it serves the reader with genuine insight, not because it targets keywords.

We maintain editorial independence at all times. Brands do not control our recommendations, rankings, ratings, or conclusions. Commercial relationships do not determine what we cover or how we score.

2) Content Covered By This Policy

This policy applies to all editorial content on YourOfficeGear.com, including product reviews, best of lists, comparisons, buying guides, setup and ergonomics guides, how-to tutorials, research and statistics articles, original datasets and surveys, and informational updates where the purpose is to inform purchasing decisions or improve workplace outcomes.

3) How We Choose Topics And What We Prioritise

We select topics based on reader demand, recurring questions, category gaps where online information is weak or misleading, and products we can evaluate with a meaningful testing process.

We prioritise subjects where we can add unique value through first-hand experience, careful measurement, side-by-side comparison, original photography, and practical advice that can be applied immediately.

When a topic cannot be covered responsibly due to limited access, insufficient evidence, or a lack of testing capability, we may delay publication or publish only what we can verify, clearly explaining limitations.

4) Product Reviews And Comparisons

Our reviews aim to reflect real-world usage, not only first impressions. Whenever possible, we test products hands-on and assess performance across comfort, adjustability, build quality, usability, long-term support, and overall value. Reviews are written to help a reader decide whether a product suits their body, work style, space, and budget.

To ensure transparency and consistency, we follow a documented testing process. For the full methodology, please refer to our How We Test page. We also maintain a separate Review Guidelines page explaining our principles, including how we handle review samples, independence, and transparency.

Where appropriate, we include original evidence such as testing photos, measurement tables, comparison charts, and notes about the testing period. If we provide a score or rating, it is based on a consistent framework, explained within the article, and grounded in observed performance and category context. A recommendation must be justified with clear reasons and realistic tradeoffs, not marketing language.

When we publish “best of” lists and comparisons, we define selection criteria, explain why each product is included, and provide alternatives for different use cases. We update these pages when new testing changes our recommendations, products are discontinued, major revisions are released, or better options become available.

5) Research, statistics, and evidence standards

YourOfficeGear.com publishes research and statistics content to support better decisions and cut through common marketing claims. This includes evidence-informed guidance and, where possible, original datasets derived from structured measurement and testing.

Any statistic or numerical claim presented as fact must be supported by a credible source or by our own documented dataset.

We prioritise primary and authoritative sources, including peer-reviewed research, reputable institutions, standards bodies, and official manufacturer documentation for specifications.

If sources conflict, we explain the disagreement and present the interpretation we believe is most reliable, including relevant context.

When we publish original datasets, benchmarks, or survey results, we disclose the methodology in plain language.

This includes what was measured, how it was measured, the sample size, the collection period, and meaningful limitations. We do not present incomplete datasets as representative of the entire market, and we avoid using survey results as proof of outcomes where self-reporting bias is likely.

For research and statistics content, we aim to link readers to relevant pages inside our Research and Statistics section and to our testing methodology, where the information is derived from hands-on evaluation.

6) How-To Guides And Educational Content

Our how-to guides are written to be practical, safe, and replicable. We aim to describe steps clearly, define assumptions, and highlight common mistakes.

When we discuss ergonomics, discomfort, posture, or wellbeing, we frame the content as educational and evidence-informed. We avoid making medical claims, and we do not present our content as a substitute for professional advice.

If a topic is adjacent to health or wellbeing, we use careful language, cite credible research where applicable, and encourage readers with persistent symptoms to consult a qualified professional.

7) Fact-Checking And Quality Control

We take accuracy seriously and apply a consistent quality control process. Before publishing, we verify product names, versions, key specifications that affect fit and compatibility, and factual claims that could mislead a buyer.

When we reference warranties or return policies, we aim to confirm them using current brand documentation at the time of writing, and we update the page if those terms change.

If a claim cannot be verified, we remove it or rephrase it as an opinion based on observed experience, clearly labelled as such.

8) Updates, Maintenance, And Freshness

We maintain editorial pages because categories change, products evolve, and new data becomes available.

Pages may be updated when products are discontinued, replaced, revised, or when new testing reveals different performance than initially reported.

When an update materially changes conclusions, we aim to reflect that in the article and, where appropriate, provide a short note indicating what changed.

9) Corrections policy

If we publish incorrect information, we correct it. Corrections may include factual fixes, specification updates, clarified statements, or replaced images and captions. Readers can request a correction through our Contact page. When a correction affects a key claim or recommendation, we aim to correct the page promptly and ensure the revised information is clear.

10) Affiliate links, advertising, sponsorships, and disclosure

YourOfficeGear.com may earn commissions through affiliate links when readers purchase through certain links, at no additional cost to the reader.

Affiliate relationships do not influence what we test, what we recommend, or how we score. This is explained in our Affiliate Disclosure page.

If sponsored content is ever published, it will be clearly labelled as sponsored. Sponsored content must meet our editorial standards and must never be presented as independent testing if it is not.

Advertising, when used, does not influence editorial decisions.

11) Conflicts of interest

We disclose conflicts of interest that may reasonably affect impartiality. This can include financial relationships, gifts beyond standard review samples, or personal relationships with brand employees. If a conflict is significant, we may reassign the content or decline coverage.

12) Use of tools and AI-Assisted Workflows

We may use editorial tools to support drafting, formatting, proofreading, image optimisation, or summarising testing notes.

Regardless of the tools used, human editors remain responsible for accuracy and the final decision to publish. We do not fabricate hands-on experiences, test results, measurements, or conclusions.

If a specific article includes meaningful AI assistance beyond minor editing support, we may disclose that within the article for transparency.
